It is without question, apparent really, that the true gems here lie in the collaborations. Juicy J, Nicki Minaj and Justin Bieber among others all make appearances adding flair and unmistakable star quality to an already (semi)-dynamic album. Moreover, Trigga is without a doubt smooth, silky and seductive… true to “Songbook” form. Kelly as his dominion has garnered massive appeal. Songz reaches a level of (expected) success, but fails to truly bring us deeper into the world of Tremaine Neverson. While we are pleased with the effort put forth by Songz, riskier choices could have been made, pushing him into the likes of one R. Trigga, while solid… lacks a depth of creativity and without thought, you can’t help but to compare the record to Ready. Another standout “ Yes, No Maybe” brings a similar appeal that allows a one-track mind, the opportunity to select a road from three choices. A delectable track which sheds light on a woman’s perspective of a man’s actions, through a man’s eyes.

(You Ain’t $*/…) which Trigga wrote himself (along with the other 12 tracks on the full length LP). A contrast to the overkill of hyperactive gang violence and obsessive misogyny, Trigga offers refreshing doses of vulnerability, while still remaining confident. More than ever before, Songz’s sex appeal steps back and more masculine lyrical dexterity, accompanied by his maturated vocals take a step forward.

The album’s lead single “ Na Na” along with follow-ups “ Smartphones” and “ Foreign” helped push the album to the top spot and here’s why. As earlier last week, Trigga topped the Billboard 200 charts… it looks like his approached worked.

Heavily saturated in sex-oriented lyrical content, and moments of blatant infidelity, the singer/songwriter does a moderately acceptable job of convincing this generation, that its okay to cheat and with charismatic appeal. Released July 1, Trigga is not a ferocious beginning of a new direction, yet it reveals a pursuit to solidify the well-earned autonomy that he once had in the industry.

Trigga , the sixth studio album by the Virginia native, on the Songbook imprint of Atlantic Records, in all its untamed and off-the-chain appeal shows strong promise in regaining his place atop the R&B throne. They say you can’t have cake, and eat it too… well Trey Songz doesn’t appear to be moved by that statement.
